The c100 was a great camera a decade ago when this movie was made. The lens could have been a bit better but with proper lighting this is a great indie setup. Way better than most indies from a decade ago. The canon c series is still a great camera in 2024
My question is where to buy a 500 $ Fujifilmx100T?
Reminds me of Cole Bennett shooting his music videos on an iPhone
Great video. Such beautiful aesthetics. Mind sharing how you're getting the 90's mini dvr footage type video snippets here?
I picked up the Canon FD 28mm, 35mm and 50mm macro lens before I stumbled on your video. Love these lens for photo and video.
I bought new iphone 15 pro max n i have the same issue.
No shiet Sherlock! People use lamps in houses! WOW! You are find something magnificent... no bro... you not.
Blue Ruin 4 life
Great video, totally valid!
I mean this is what Casey Neistat always says, how he really doesn't care about the gear but that everything else is what interests him
As Chris Cabin from We Hate Movies podcast always says : Light hits things.. that shit registers.
When I had a couple of University classes on Cinematographic language, one of my end of year essay was on his first feature film, August 32nd on Earth. He was already a deal at the time in Quebec. My thesis on that essay was that the main dialogue of the movie was silence.. it was a really light on dialogue movie and it spoke to me. Just to say that even in that uneven, but interesting first outing, he had that attidude. Dialogue is necessary, but to him it's not the main storytelling medium. Hope it makes sense...
soderbergh is the king of camera movies
How do I see the image? I just bought this camera for church. I am only used to basic cameras. When I look into the camera I cant see the image. Please help.
Like you say, the "gear doesn't matter" commentary only works if you know well what you're doing. It's what most people forget to grasp and then shoot okay stuff with okay cameras but think it's perfect because they indeed used okay cameras and not high end gear.
Reminds me of a quote, "The best bike in the world is the one you're riding."
Can you please help out In how to take the pictures in those angles mentioned
Still happening with my Mac mini 2020 core i5. Exactly as mentioned in the video.
Lol soderberg not as famous as anyone involved in the Creator is crazy mang. To be honest, I don't understand why any of the Creator couldn't have been shot on the fx6. Same sensor, better image quality from the raw readout, and the camera's not as small. Using something with global shutter in a small form factor actually does kind of make sense for the reasons you said. Camera just moves different
simple - too big.
@@impatrickt It's not, it can be balanced on the RS3 pro, not to mention it can be mounted easily onto a shoulder rig as well in particular the version that they used
saw blue ruin because of you mentioning it in this video and it was a great and wrenching experience. thanks!
A good explanation would be: It's a big blockbuster, but still feels like an indie movie.
Cinematography wise I struggle to name a better looking movie. It's just that good.
Best Sci-fi move of are life time. Yes even star wars
Did you actually compare this movie to something from Marvel?
you haven't made a point, if you do we can chat about it.
showing is better than telling
What's that song at the end?
its not the utensil, give da vinci a stick in sand and see
I remember David Lynch hot off Mulholland Drive started using the Sony PD 150. I was blown away that one of the greatest directors ever was using an affordable camera to shoot an entire movie.
They didn’t use any Sony Venice? I’m asking cause the dude who did their black and white bts film shots took one when they are driving in the car and there are two Sony Venices mounted on the hood.
ngl i thought this was gonna be a skit
Live this!!! Thank you
Thx for the vid!!
What was the background music you used in the "interviews extra"part sounds crazy good
every track in this video is from musicbed and they're by makeup and vanity set - i dont recall the exact name but all of MAVS stuff is stellar
@@impatrickt thanks for replying man I'll definitely check em out 🙏:D

Civil War is a gem-coming from a pro film/digital event photographer
Just look at that ignorant young baby face, and then read his words "mediocre format." He's an example of a child who knows nothing, despite believing quite the opposite.
I picked up a panasonic s5iix, an entry level ff camera recently. I plan to use it for at least 10 years. It's FAR more capable than I am.
I see a dongle for macs by Hideez.
I’ve looked up Mac Mini 2014 Bluetooth Antenna on eBay. I see a part that’s a cover with wires. I’m not a DIY techie that wants to dig into my computer. But, maybe, something can be done about this.
Hi Patrick great video, i have a question how you record your video and talk with that mic?
i just hold it!
just subbed for that doggo
I love that the c300 is still relevant to this day. That lamp in the background is kind of distracting.....
reminds me whn sean ellis shot Metro Manila on a Canon 5D Mkii, as well as Jason Momoa shot Road to Paloma...we are getting more and more free from the gear.
how does it hold up weather wise?
Stop shitting on FX3 homie
fuc that camera
"Victoria" movie was the same, shot on C300 and in ONE TAKE!
Is this still worth getting in 2024? New from Best Buy $1,499.
I enjoy dialogue more than visual content... but when the story sucks and the characters are bland, you're left with neat visuals with holywood. Sadly, interpretations of these "silences" and anticipation makes for a great movie. Directors miss that ship entirely more frequently than not. Denis lived in Montreal and I've seen the place where he grew up (checked out an interview before watching the movie so I could grasp his take/style and intentions for the potential messages). I wasn't disappointed. I really disliked the helicopters in the first movie, but that's just sci-fi without a grip on how materials and physics interact. Vfx can make it happen, but that doesn't mean it should. Floatation devices? Yea that seemed more realistic than those xD... but you have to pretend that they're not just doing a reverted shot of them dropping down a wire and go: "wow I wonder what's in those packs!" >__<
this got recommended to me a few days after i got my x100t stolen (probably because someone mistook it for a v). Still hurts, nicest digital camera i have used so far
Great content, but duuuuude. That flickering lamp in the background.
fire mode and i love it
